Un-Habitat is the International Partner of BiSP 2015
The United Nations Programme for Human Settlements (UN-Habitat), with the approval of its Executive Director, Dr. Joan Clos, has become the international partner of the third edition of the BiSP, to be held in Rome from 21 to 24 May 2015.
With this decision, UN-Habitat has confirmed its engagement in the Biennale. In the 2013 edition, UN-Habitat organized two important workshops and cooperated actively in the drafting of the Charter of Public Space. In addition, UN-Habitat and INU signed an agreement of cooperation which led to the organization in Rome of an international expert group meeting on public space and sustainable urban development and the subsequent preparation and presentation in international fora of a Global Public Space Toolkit, The Toolkit, a user-friendly guide and hopefully a useful source of reference for cities for the creation, management and enjoyment of public space, will be officially presented at BiSP 2015.
The international community is working with UN-Habitat in preparation for the Third United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat III), to be held in Quito, Ecuador in October 2016.
In its continuing cooperation with UN-Habitat, the BiSP and its main partners, including INU, will take part in this process by developing and expanding the Charter’s principles as a contribution to the New Urban Agenda to be adopted by Habitat III.
Among others organizations and institutions, INU has become an Associate Partner of the World Urban Campaign.
